Delta Announces Upgrades To Fleet

Delta has announced several improvements aimed at its customers, including a cabin refresh and an expansion of seats onboard a crucial widebody.

737 Refresh Coming For Delta

Delta says that as part of a commitment to increasing customer satisfaction levels, it’ll make a significant cabin refresh aboard Boeing 737-800 aircraft from this month.

As part of the refresh, the airline will focus on improving premium travel for customers with the newest edition of first-class seats to roll out across the fleet.

The seats debuted first on the next-generation Airbus A321neo; however, since its introduction, Delta has been well received by customers boarding the aircraft.

Delta says the seat offers customers additional privacy and stowage space, which means personal items such as devices can remain in person. Meanwhile, the carrier also highlights the tray table, which is sturdier than in previous editions.

A refresh is also expected with Delta Comfort+, and the main cabin will see upgrades. However, this will be only on select Boeing 737-800s.

On the selected aircraft, upgraded bathrooms will see touchless features introduced and a 10-inch Panasonic seatback screen.

Other Upgrades Announces

Delta says while a substantial amount of focus is placed inside the aircraft, it’ll also take iniaitives to upgrade its aircraft outside.

As part of these plans, the fleet will be upgraded by installing split-scimitar winglets. The airline says the enhancement will make aircraft more fuel efficient, saving a staggering 3.3 million gallons of fuel per year.

Airbus A350s Getting More Seats

The Airbus A350, quickly becoming one of Delta’s more important aircraft for long-haul flights, and will also see adjustments inside the cabin.

Delta says it’s adding eight of its award-winning lie-flat suites to the A350-900 to upgrade the overall premium travel experience aboard its services worldwide.

Following the latest announcement, the airline says that the A350-900 aircraft will feature 40 Delta One Suites, 40 Delta Premium Select seats, 36 Delta Comfort+ and 159 main cabin seats.

Overall, this newly configured A350 will see a higher reliance on premium products for customers, and the carrier says the configuration will first enter service in time for the Summer 2024 season.

A commitment to the Airbus A350 series was recently extended, with an order for the Airbus A350-1000 confirmed. As such, the widebody will be hugely important to the airline’s long-term success and enable new destinations to be within reach.
